Travel information
By Air - Participants flying to Budapest will arrive
at Liszt Ferenc Airport 2.
By Road - Hungary can be approached from all
neighboring countries on several highways. The main ones are tollways.
Passes can be purchased at the border stations. Drivers from the West
should take the M1 tollway from the direction of Vienna.
By Rail - International trains usually stop at Nyugati (Western), Keleti (Eastern) or Déli (Southern) stations. Each station is well within an hour from the conference venue.
From airport to city
Public transportation in Budapest
Budapest has a very decent daytime
public transportation system (up to cca 11pm) with overnight options.
It is extensive, reliable and inexpensive.
Fares cannot be paid on board, and there are fines for traveling without
a validated ticket. Tickets are valid for one ride only. A new ticket
must be used every time you change lines. Tickets can be purchased at the airport,
underground stations, hotels, newspaper kiosks and tobacco shops. There are also ticket vending machines at the airport, railway stations, underground stations, stops of major tram lines and many other spots. Accommodation
We recommend any of the hotels in the city center. A few hotels within walking distance from the conference venue are marked on the map above. Please contact the hotel of your choice directly or via Booking.com.
Renting an apartment by Airbnb is also an option.

Currency
International bank cards (Visa, Master, ...) are widely used.
Most expenses (taxi, hotel, most restaurants) can be direcly paid by international bank cards.
Please ask the availability of bank card payment in advance.
Participants with international bank card are still recommended to exchange or withdraw
a little (e.g. 15000 HUF/50 EUR)
Hungarian Forints (HUF) at arrival. There are several ATMs and exchange kiosks at the
airport, at the railway stations and all over the city. (Banks in
Hungary are open generally between 9:00 a.m. and 17:00 p.m. from Monday
to Friday. Exchang kiosks are usually open much longer.)
